Mass demonstrations set to continue in Israel against Netanyahu: AJE correspondent
Al Jazeera’s Hamdah Salhut joins live from Amman, Jordan. Salhut reports that mass demonstrations are set to continue across Israel in response to recent events involving Israeli captives. Despite being banned by the Israeli government from reporting inside the country, Al Jazeera is closely following the developments from outside.
Salhut explains that this marks the third consecutive night of demonstrations, with the main rally being held in Tel Aviv. The protests were sparked after the Israeli army retrieved the bodies of six Israeli captives from a tunnel in southern Gaza over the weekend. This has fueled outrage among the captives’ families, especially after Israeli military intelligence revealed that the captives were alive just days before. Leaks from both Israeli and Hamas officials suggested that many of these captives were initially slated for release in the first phase of a ceasefire deal that ultimately never materialized.
