Russian military plane crashes with 74 on board

The Russian military has blamed Ukraine for the crash of a Russian military plane in the Belgorod region of Russia with 74 people on board. According to the governor of the region, there are no survivors. Russian news agencies, quoting Russia’s Defense Ministry, say the plane was carrying 65 Ukrainian servicemen ahead of a prisoner exchange. The official Ukrainian information service says the plane was carrying missions for the Russian S-300 air defense system, citing an unnamed source in the Ukrainian armed forces. Kyiv has so far made no comment on Moscow’s claims, which Russian officials have been reporting since shortly after news of the crash broke. CNN is not able to independently verify Russia’s claims.
