Classes reopen in Sudan’s Red Sea State for the first time after a year of fighting

For many students around the world, the school year is almost over. But for some pupils in northeastern Sudan, it’s just beginning.

It’s been a year since fighting between the National Army and the Rapid Support Forces broke out, killing tens of thousands of people and displacing millions more.

For the first time, schools in Red Sea State have reopened.
