Israeli war cabinet decides to send negotiators for talks, continue Rafah operation
The Israeli prime minister’s office has just released a statement, reacting to Hamas’ response, and also saying: “The War Cabinet unanimously decided that Israel will continue the operation in Rafah to exert military pressure on Hamas”
“Although the Hamas proposal is far from Israel’s requirements, Israel will send a delegation of working-class mediators to exhaust the possibility of reaching an agreement under conditions acceptable to Israel.”
People take to the streets in Tel Aviv demanding a ceasefire.
Following Hamas’ acceptance of a ceasefire proposal – put forward by Egypt and Qatar – families of the captives in Gaza say the Israeli government must show their commitment to its citizens; accept the deal, and get the captives home.
