Palaeontologists have discovered a remarkably preserved skull of a fearsome 36-million-year-old whale in Peru’s Ocucaje desert. Dubbed the “Ocucaje Predator,” this ancient basilosaurus had long, pointed teeth capable of hunting tuna, sharks, and sardines. Its serpent-like body hints at how it may have slithered through prehistoric oceans. Thought to be a distant ancestor of modern whales, this find provides a rare glimpse into early marine mammal evolution. The skull, found fully intact, marks a major scientific breakthrough in paleontology.
