Benjamin Netanyahu’s public support drops further as war grinds on
The Israeli prime minister’s approval ratings had, in fact, reached an all-time low.
Throughout the duration of the ongoing war, public support for Netanyahu had been steadily dwindling.
Recent statistics reported in Israeli media indicated that a mere 23 percent of respondents expressed a desire for Benjamin Netanyahu to retain his position, while a significant 41 percent favored [former Defence Minister] Benny Gantz to assume power.
Comparing these figures to data collected just four weeks prior revealed a notable decline in support for Netanyahu, dropping from approximately 29 percent to a mere 23 percent – a significant six percentage point decrease.
Furthermore, if elections were conducted at the present moment, the anti-Netanyahu bloc would secure 68 seats, while Netanyahu’s bloc would only manage 47 seats. This disparity would prevent Netanyahu from securing a majority, rendering him unable to continue as the premier.
In light of these unfavorable numbers, Netanyahu’s standing is particularly precarious, considering his handling of the ongoing war.
