Blinken calls for pressure on Hamas to accept captive-exchange deal
The leader of Hamas’ political bureau Ismail Haniyeh has issued a statement saying that the ceasefire negotiations were at their final stage when the Nuseirat massacre was carried out.
He thinks that operation was meant to create obstacles to reaching an agreement to end the war.
Haniyeh goes on to say that US support of Israel’s actions, makes it complicit in these crimes.
US Secretary Antony Blinken is on his way to Israel after making a stop in Egypt.
He’s asking Arab states to press Hamas to agree to the truce deal recently announced by US President Joe Biden.
The Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting in Israel, so Imran Khan is in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the latest developments.
Hussein Haridi, former Egypt assistant foreign minister, has told Al Jazeera that Egypt and the US had identical roadmaps for ending Israel’s war on Gaza.
