Blue whales return to the sanctuary of Seychelles | WION
For a long time, not much was understood about the presence of cetaceans in the tropical western Indian Ocean. There is now hope for the future as fresh research has proven the existence of blue whales in the waters surrounding the Seychelles. Researchers from Oregon State University, Florida International University, and the University of Seychelles discovered 23 different kinds of whales in the Seychelles’ waters during the course of two field seasons, including blue whales. In the last five years, there have been five verified sightings of blue whales.
