British protesters demand full arms embargo on Israel: AJE correspondent
Al Jazeera’s Sonia Gallego joins live from London. She says that pro-Palestinian protesters have gathered in the city, reacting to British Foreign Secretary David Lammy’s recent announcement to suspend 30 of the 350 licenses for arms exports to Israel. However, Gallego notes that for many people she spoke with, this move falls short. They recall how, in 1982, then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher imposed a full arms embargo on Israel during the Lebanon war—a measure they feel should be replicated. Protesters are calling for a complete and imme-diate halt to all arms exports, as the ongoing war on Gaza, now ap-proaching 11 months, continues to deteriorate.
