‘Clear risk’: UK says suspends arms export licences to Israel
The UK government has announced it will suspend 30, out of 350, licenses to export arms to Israel.
British companies will not be allowed to send components for some fighter aircraft and helicopters to Israel.
The foreign secretary says there is a risk that some equipment might be used to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law.
Hassan Barari, an international affairs professor at Qatar University, says Britain’s decision to suspend 30 arms export licenses to Israel is “very important” since the UK has supported Israel’s “right to defend itself” since October 7.
