Decoding sperm whales: Scientists detect ‘phonetic alphabet’

Sperm whales are communicating in a way that’s more complex than previously expected.
That’s the conclusion by scientists who are studying the animals in the Caribbean.
Researchers say their vocalisations show what they believe is a phonetic alphabet.
