Ecuador prison hostages: Families demand action from president Noboa
Families of staff held hostage in Ecuador’s prisons are demanding action from the country’s president.
Authorities say at least one hundred and seventy-eight guards and workers remain captive. It’s amid civil unrest as gangs rebel against the new government’s moves to shake up criminal control of jails and lengthen sentences.
Al Jazeera’s Alessandro Rampietti reports from the Cotopaxi prison outside the capital Quito.
