Floods tear through delta in eastern Sudan; thousands in need of aid
Four villages near Aroma town in Sudan’s eastern state of Kasala remain isolated by floodwaters days after the River Gash burst its banks. The flooding, which usually occurs in the area later in the summer, follows increased rainfall in neighbouring Eritrea, feeding the Gash River. Villagers in the flooded areas report that they are still unable to leave and are receiving little assistance.
Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall reports from the town of Aroma in eastern Sudan.
