Former Palestinian detainee says Israeli torture practices appear to have increased in severity
An Israeli human rights group has released a report detailing the mistreatment of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons since October the 7th.
It said people have been systematically abused in Israeli prisons, calling them “de-facto torture camps”.
Some violations include severe physical and sexual violence, humiliation, sleep deprivation and starvation.
The number of Palestinians in Israeli jails has doubled to 9,623 since the war began. At least 60 have died in custody.
Mansour Shouman was detained in an Israeli prison in Ashkelon in 2009.
He describes the torture inflicted on him by Israeli guards, and says Palestinians are probably being treated even worse now.
