Haiti PM lands in Puerto Rico as top gang leader warns of ‘civil war’
A powerful gang leader in Haiti has warned civil war will break out if Prime Minister Ariel Henry doesn’t step down.
Jimmy "Barbecue" Chérizier made the threat as members of his gang tried to seize the capital’s airport to stop Mr Henry from returning from abroad.
The Prime Minister has arrived in Puerto Rico and is trying to return home.
Officials say he arrived in San Juan after being denied permission to land in the Dominican Republic.
Haiti is in a state of emergency after gang leaders announced they were going to overthrow the government.
