India doctor’s rape and murder: Concerns over political parties leading protests

A 12-hour strike is underway in India’s eastern state of West Bengal.
The BJP called the action in protest against officers firing tear gas and water cannon at demonstrators on Tuesday.
It’s demanding the state chief minister’s resignation over her response to the rape and murder of a junior doctor earlier this month.
Many say the issue of women’s safety in India is being politicised.

Al Jazeera’s Um-e-Kulsoom Shariff reports.
