India’s Kashmir holds first regional election since losing autonomy
Polls have closed in the first phase of elections in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Thousands of extra police and soldiers were deployed as people cast their ballots.
A federally appointed governor has controlled the territory since New Delhi revoked its semi-autonomous status five years ago.
