Iran confirms ceasefire with Israel, rejects ‘fabricated’ attack reports: Analysis

Abbas Aslani, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Middle East Strategic Studies, confirmed to Al Jazeera that Iran has formally accepted the ceasefire with Israel through its Supreme National Security Council. Speaking from Tehran, he explained that while Iran frames this as successfully dictating terms to Israel, it remains poised to respond to any violations. Aslani firmly rejected Israeli allegations of post-ceasefire missile attacks emanating from Iran, implying these claims could represent Israeli efforts to manufacture pretexts for resuming hostilities. He portrayed the agreement as a strategic triumph for Iran, arguing that Washington and Jerusalem’s eagerness for de-escalation vindicated Tehran’s military strategy. The analyst noted that despite substantial casualties and destruction, the confrontation had paradoxically strengthened national cohesion, with Iranians uniting behind their government amidst deepening scepticism towards Western nations. Aslani stressed that the Iranian public now regards their leaders’ pronouncements as more trustworthy than those from American or Israeli sources. While guardedly hopeful about the ceasefire’s durability, he underlined that Iran’s armed forces maintain heightened readiness to counter any perceived infringements by Israel.
