Israel has bitterly accepted deal, but it could be the start of of a longer pause: Marwan Bishara

Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara says that the Qataris finally were able to put a process in place that could withstand various shocks, but it will still be up to Israel and Hamas to implement the deal … He don’t think the Israelis are serious; He thinks they might still find a way to violate it.

The Israelis felt pressured to accept this, and hence they don’t have good intentions going in.

They are accepting this pause bitterly, and they can’t wait until it’s over so they can continue with the invasion.

Nevertheless, having a process in place will help the process to be prolonged, for more captives to be released, to move from a humanitarian pause to a truce, and perhaps eventually a full ceasefire.
