Israel’s bombing campaign in northern Gaza has destroyed entire districts and neighbourhoods
It was another relatively peaceful and quiet night for Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, without the threat of being killed in Israeli air raids.
But for those who are surrounded by destruction, blood and bodies of loved ones, the ceasefire did not change much about how they feel.
We’re talking about massive destruction of all forms of life in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the north and Gaza City. There is a sense of frustration as 1.5 million Palestinians are still unable to go back to their homes in the north.
The delay in the release last night has also underscored the fragility of the four-day truce. It has confirmed people’s cautious optimism that this truce, and the possibility of extending the truce, were under threat as a result of technical issues.
