Man with early onset Alzheimer’s sees improvement after lifestyle changes
While Mike Carver, 71, had no known family history of Alzheimer’s, he was a carrier of both copies of the APOE4 gene – the genotype that can increase a person’s risk tenfold. In 2017, he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.
Desperate for answers, Mike’s wife Pat searched the internet for support groups, studies to join, anything to help slow this down. Eventually, they found Dr. Dean Ornish and his clinical trial in 2019. Dr. Ornish reports that after 40 weeks in the intervention group, all four of Mike’s cognitive tests improved. Those peer-reviewed results have been published in the journal Alzheimer’s Research & Therapy.
