In just over a week, Mexico is due to hold general elections. Voters will elect their new president and as those elections near, a debate is growing over the role of the country’s future leader in commanding its military forces. Some experts warn that the military establishment wields unprecedented influence and has a larger role in governance than at any time in the past 80 years.
