Palestinians begin receiving news on relatives slated for release
Since this morning, people have been asking who is on the list and when they will be released. Now, we have the names of the 39 Palestinian prisoners who are expected to be released.
We’ve been talking to the father of a prisoner whose daughter has been in prison for the past eight years. He says he’s been denied entering the prison to visit her, but he received the news as we were with him when he saw his daughter’s name on the list.
He said this is a “joyous day” for him, but still, he said it’s hard to celebrate, given what’s been happening in the Gaza Strip which has been under continuous bombardment for the past month and a half.
We’ve also been speaking to [other] families of prisoners whose family members have appeared on the list. They’re from Bethlehem, from Jericho, Jenin, all across the occupied West Bank.
