‘She will not be forgotten’: People across Turkey honour Aysenur Ezgi Eygi
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was honoured in Istanbul by young Turks a week after she was killed in the West Bank. Funerals in absentia were held across Turkey, her birthplace. Many expressed outrage over the lack of international inquiry and the silence surrounding her death. Aysenur’s killing united political groups in Turkey, marking a rare moment of solidarity. In Erzurum, health workers held a silent march for Gaza, and young people organised sit-ins in solidarity with Palestinians, protesting Israeli brutality. Turkey vowed her death would not go unpunished.
