UN Security Council members frustrated by lack of progress on Gaza ceasefire
The UN Security Council held its second emergency meeting on Gaza in less than a week. Israel focused on the six captives found dead, while Algeria raised concerns over human rights violations in the West Bank.
Council members expressed frustration over Israel’s refusal to accept the ceasefire outlined in Resolution 2735, which called for the release of captives and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
The US urged patience with diplomacy, while other members, including Guyana and Slovenia, demanded quicker progress and warned of further action if the war continues.
