US Attacks Iran LIVE: Pete Hegseth Says US Strikes in Iran Are Not Aimed at Regime Change | Khamenei
The US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites were not aimed at regime change, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said. He added that Washington had sent private messages to Tehran, urging negotiations. Hegseth warned Iran against retaliating and stated that US forces would respond if threatened. “This mission was not, and has not been, about regime change,” Hegseth told reporters at the Pentagon. “The president authorised a precision operation to neutralise threats to our national interests posed by the Iranian nuclear programme.”
