Yemen’s Houthis may target Israeli shipping in response to attacks on Hodeidah and Ras Isa: Analysis
Israel has attacked the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah, targeting key infrastructure including Ras Issa seaport and power stations. The city, controlled by the Houthi group, has seen over 15 Israeli airstrikes. The attacks follow a missile fired by the Houthis at Israel, with the group vowing to continue until Israeli actions in Lebanon and Gaza cease. Journalist and Political Analyst Hussein Al-Bukhaiti reports that these strikes aim to pressure Yemen, particularly by targeting civilian infrastructure vital for humanitarian aid and fuel, as Hodeidah remains a key entry point.
Al-Bukhaiti also noted that the Yemeni army has successfully blocked Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and could extend these attacks to countries dealing with Israel, such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and possibly Jordan. He added that the Houthis may expand their offensive to Israeli ports and offshore gas platforms, escalating their operations.
