Zelenskyy: Glide bombs, Russia’s main tool of aggression against Ukraine
Ukraine says Russian forces used so-called ‘glide bombs’ in an attack on a crowded hardware store in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Saturday, 15 people were killed and more than 40 injured.
Russian glide bombs, retrofitted with wings and satellite navigation systems, can reach targets tens of kilometres inside Ukraine while enabling the launching aircraft, such as SU-34s, to remain in Russian airspace. Despite promises of F-16s from European allies, Ukraine lacks sufficient air defence against these attacks. Ground-launched glide bombs, provided to Ukraine, are thwarted by Russian electronic jamming, allowing Russian glide bombs to maintain superiority in the skies and devastate ground targets.
