Meg Ryan moved to Greenwich a few years ago, but not before she sold her lovely SoHo pad for nearly $10 million. The SoHo loft measured 4,100 square feet, and it was featured in Architectural Digest as an example of when dark colors meet classic architectural elements.

Ryan bought the apartment for $8 million from Hank Azaria, her fellow celeb. After buying it, Ryan hired Monique Gibson and Joel Barkley, a designer and architect, respectively, to totally gut the apartment and renovate it. Ryan loves renovating homes, so much so that her son, Jack, nicknamed the process the “Meganize” effect.

34. Samuel L. Jackson

Net Worth: $250 million*
Purchased For: $4.8 million*
Sq. Footage: 3,000-Square-Feet

When Samuel L. Jackson put his apartment on the market a few years ago, he wanted to make a huge profit. He first bought the Upper East Side condo in 2005 for a little under $5 million, and he put it on the market, years later, for $13 million. The condo is located on one of the middle floors of The Leonori, a pre-war apartment house.

The 3,000-square-foot condo comes with 3.5 bathrooms and four bedrooms, and it has highlights like dark oak floorboards, floor-to-ceiling built-ins, and a black glass chandelier swinging over the dining room table. The apartment building was first built in the early 1900s, and it’s known for its elaborate limestone detailing.
